 The Coeur d Alene Fire Department is pleased to be a designated SAFE PLACE for young people in crisis. The purpose of SAFE PLACE is to provide access to immediate help and supportive resources for kidsthrough a network of sites sustained by qualified agencies, trained volunteers and businesses.

 

The SAFE PLACE vision is to be universally recognized and used by youth across America as the place to go for immediate help and safety.

 

Facts about SAFE PLACE:

        Typically serves those aged 12 to 17, although some agencies serve younger youth.

 

        Potential issues involving youth:  Running away, crime, sex, sexual orientation, eating disorders, suicide, dropping out and drug or alcohol use.

 

        Educates thousands of young people every year trying to resolve difficult and/or threatening situations on their own.

 

        Offers supportive services to both youth and their families.

 

        There are 16,659 SAFE PLACE sites across the country including fast food restaurants, convenience stores, fire stations and libraries

 

        Over 110,128 youth have been served by SAFE PLACE
